2m Using Marine VHF Antenna?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever used a marine VHF antenna with a ham 2m rig? Someday I will probably get around to taking my 2m rig to my boat, hooking it up to the antenna, and measuring SWR, just to see how bad it is. But 146mhz is not all THAT far from 157mhz, so I'm hoping that it will work.

Or do I need a separate antenna for 2m? (Understanding that I'm willing to trade off some antenna efficiency for convenience, and that I'm a relative newbie at this ham radio stuff so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about!)

Yes, it works. We have both 2M and marine VHF antennas and I can't tell the difference switching the antennas between our 2M and VHF radios. I suspect the antennas are more precisely tuned for each and will perform best on the radios they are meant for, but it doesn't seem to matter in practice.
