Zinc saver

Hi.
I have a zinc saver onboard my new boat, connected. My zinc anodes are trash. So what is this thing saving me?
I'm most times anchoring by myself. No marina visits.
How do I know, that this saver saves?
Thank you.

Re: Zinc saver

A zinc saver is an isolator for the shore ground. It doesn't actually do anything to or for the anodes specifically, but if you are plugged into shore power it prevents stray D.C. Current from consuming your anodes. If you only anchor and you're losing anodes at an alarming rate, you probably have a D.C. Current leak onboard somewhere.
