Worth Sending Schneider-Electric NSX 100 Breaker for service?

Hi,

I am an Engineer on a 37m motor yacht and have recently changed a bad Main Circuit Breaker of the type mentioned in the heading. The specific breaker in question might have suffered some severe damage during failure and it might not serviceable.

Nonetheless I was just curious to know if it would be worth it to keep such breakers and send them away for repairs or to be serviced or to just throw it away and buy a new one.

In the case that it is worth it to have these breakers serviced, what would one expect save? I know these breakers can be quite costly, thus the reason for my post.

Any advice from experienced professionals would be greatly appreciated and some numbers to compare even better.

Kind Regards
A.J

I'm not an engineer, but work as a skipper on large anchor handling tugs.
Over the last 20 or so years, our experience was it was cheaper to just scrap the old breakers and buy new. By the time you factor in the time and money to send the unit for repair, and have it returned, and not being 100% sure that the unit is 100% good, replacing with new is usually the best option.

Your best answer would come from asking the manufacturer directly.

I would check with Miami breaker, they would be able tho tell you. I know that large programmable breakers are tested and reused if good, and are often repaired.

Thanks for the helpful advice and apologies for the bad spelling and grammar. I was typing in a bit of a hurry.
