Talking Windlass motor

The electric motor of my horizontal windlass is still running perfectly after many years , but now its casing is pitting ,corroded and in some place rotting out.
While waiting for a new motor , how can I restore the casing and so keep this old motor as a spare ?
Thank you

I have no know-how to refurb this, but perhaps if you have access to a local alternator/starter shop that only does in-house work maybe such a place might have the expertise to refurb the case? Such folks generally charge car prices and not boat prices.

Re: Windlass motor

I agree any alternator shop should be able to service the motor.. They should be able to source a new case
