Re: Wife vs. Boat

A friend fell in love with an old wooden sailboat. Boat sat in the water in a covered shed with the mast alongside at a boatyard. The mast was never stepped but varnished occasionally, the bottom and the hull were painted regularly and topside varnish kept in perfect condition, the interior cleaned regularly and kept in top condition but never an indication that the owner intended to take the boat out. My friend finally got the phone number of the owner, called him up and offered to buy the boat. Used the usual arguments that he was paying for something he wasn't using, yada yada. The owner turned him down saying he wasn't interested in selling the boat. My friend persisted trying to talk the owner into selling. The owner ended the conversation saying, "You don't understand, I keep the boat because it pisses the wife off."

Re: Wife vs. Boat

Since the boat was purchased during the marriage, wasn't it half-hers?

Valentine's day was a nice touch.

Along with the menage-a-trois without him. Then again, he was probably better off.

Yes, you definitely need to read the story. Now I want to know how her other marriages ended.

With two smiling men would be my guess.... as they dodged a bullet.

sank his boat, endangered others in the area, hired a hit man, I'm thinking when the boat was bought isn't going to make her a good person. Just plain evil

Re: Wife vs. Boat

Whilst the boat regularly attempts to clean out my bank account it has yet to do it without my knowledge?

Somehow I don't think she went apes**t because she thought her "ex" was unaware he bought stuff for the boat, RaymondR

Re: Wife vs. Boat

My wife hates my boat, sailing and boat ownership period, but she has YET to sink her. Doing so may cause me to grow handcuffs.

Helps some of you understand why some of us old guys prefer to solo. You can live your dream or you can live her dream.

Re: Wife vs. Boat

Hmmmm, sounds very similar to a Tasmanian boat sinking story. Ours resulted in the skipper dissappearing off the face of the earth and his wife being convicted with murder. Did she do it thats another story.
