Remember there are no stupid questions, stupid answers perhaps, but you can decide on that. Everyone of us started at the beginning and some were lucky to know that the pointy end is the front of the boat. Ask and ye shall learn, and most folk here enjoy teaching.

I should say that since I registered in CF, last February, I've learned a lot.
Really and the Admiral is very confident when I tell her: "I found this or that in CF.." even when it's not true..
And what we don't find a solution by ourselves , the Admiral is the first to tell: "why don't you see for it in the CF...?"

But seriously, in preparing for the cruiser's life (12 month to go before retiring...) CF has been one of the best if not the best source of info for us.
And coming to it everyday to check posts or ask questions (already have asked a lot!! )

Thank you all

Re: Why Won't Some of You Lurkers Come into the Light ?

Great to have two new lurkers out of the closet so to say (no sexual connotation meant). Since sailors have historically had a reputation of skirting the law, I guess we can assume all the others are the Government monitoring us. May you find what your looking for, ha...a civil service career. Land of the fee. And I hate it when the women lurk at me, it makes me uncomfortable, not to mention the men!

Yep! I have quite the gift of gab!
Actually, I guess I could start things up by asking about anchors or carrying guns

I have never understood the passion expressed debating anchors. The gun part i get, even though I carried a gun daily for over twenty years, I have never felt the need to always have one handy.

RCard,
These two topics tend to spur a lot of conversation and debate, as to draw us lurkers from the shadows!

I'm just expressing my own opinion :
Having sailed on different boats with the Admiral for quite a long time already, I sincerely think there is no subject other than debating anchors and anchoring that ignite more passions....

Nothing wrong with lurking.
I lurk on lots of very good sites.
Some are just dropped off by google and stay awhile.
Some don't want to give the forum their info for fear of spam or just yet another #*!! password.

They look at the ads,so the forum makes $.
In that way,it's HITS that count and the more lurkers the better.

'be careful what you wish for'...

some lurkers wear long dark overcoats with, well, not a great deal underneath, and hang around shadows muttering incomprehendable noises such as 'errstermtherrr'
