Re: Who are your favourite boat bloggers / vloggers?

Some Adventures recently with dragging anchors and anchor chain around the propeller of a neighbor vessel at the Vagabonde......

No Idea, how a set anchor chain on the ground can get into the propeller of a neighbor vessel - but s**t happens...

Re: Who are your favourite boat bloggers / vloggers?

Yes I know, but it's a piece of art to not just entangle / drag someone else anchor away, but also to wrap their chain around your prop several times. I mean - how likely is it?

If you try this on purpose it would be a real challenge to get the chain that high up on your stern with your anchor at the bow.
You must use plenty of power to lift it that high behind you.

Awesome.

Gets me to thinking it maybe a good idea to actually mark out the anchor chain in busy moorings to prevent incompetents from dropping in on top !!

Yes, but use a small plastic bottle, otherwise those yachties consider your anchor mark a mooring buoy, and guess what happens next...

Re: Who are your favourite boat bloggers / vloggers?

Free Range Sailing is one of my new favorites.
This couple is on a 30' mono, cruising through The Kimberley on the north coast of Western Australia. They are almost living off the land[SIC], catching FAR more fish than most vloggers.

There is usually more hiking than sailing, but the scenery is very interesting, including waterfalls, rivers, crocodiles, caves, cliffs, etc.

Another vlogger, Plucky, wrecked his catamaran (Sailing into Freedom) before actually exploring much of The Kimberley. This left me wondering what there was to see there. The Free Range Sailing couple have certainly delivered!

On a side note, there was a a story earlier this year about cruisers who were stranded on beach for a week in The Kimberley after a huge croc took a bite out of their dinghy. Their yacht was anchored 600 meters away but they couldn't get to it, with two crocs "stalking" them. They were finally rescued by a passing yacht.
