Re: "What make the perfect boat woman...perfect"

This has nothing to do with anything...really. But last month in Pha Yao, Thailand I met a girl whose name is Porntip Nutsak. Perhaps she would be good crew. Her son's name is Pong (this is all true). Presumably he is Pong Nutsak.

Too, too funny!

Did you ask to see her ID? It would have been worth getting a photo of her ID on your mobile!

Re: "What make the perfect boat woman...perfect"

Okay as this thread completely unravels, I thought I'd return to topic adding that I think sailing companionship is about attitude far more than gender. Anyone can be missing the adventure spark or have a double heaping of the nesting gene. In my relationship I'm the one who has travelled and gets restless in the same spot for too long, hubby likes his comfort and may spend the rest of his days happily parked on land in front of the telly. I don't know how my sailing dream is going to sort itself out, he says he want to go but I'm starting to have my doubts...

My point exactly in an earlier post (#21). The best thing to do to unsettle the stasis is to set a date and go. My guess is he will enjoy being out there with you. Perhaps you will need to compromise over the TV. I can't justify the cost of satellite TV for the boat, but I still enjoy watching the teev. So, when on land, I scour the internet for current movies, TV shows, doccos etc and download them. I have now about 2800 hours of unwatched entertainment on my external hard drive...so if I want to watch Modern Family, or QI out in the middle of the ocean, it's done.

I had a client named Richard Head. He told me his Mother apologized to him everyday for naming him Richard. True story.

As most Asian countries put their surname first, then their other names, he would be Nutsack Pong.
We have a customer genuinely called Wayne Kerr.

Re: "What make the perfect boat woman...perfect"

On our boat (note the our), we're with Capt. Force. When a fast decision is necessary, the skipper of the boat is the person at the helm.

Otherwise it's pretty much consensus. If one of us is uncomfortable with a maneuver, we do something else.

Fortunately my better half loves sailing. She is going for her Yachtmaster Ocean next winter

Re: "What make the perfect boat woman...perfect"

Many moons ago there was a client (Swedish) called Knut Aasse. When introducing himself (in the usual perfect english ) he joked that he was well aware that his name was funny in English!....the response (not by me!) was that it was unfortunate that it was both names........a pregnant pause....."both names?" (for some reason he hadn't heard that his forename was also funny!).

And back on topic (?!) a lady in HK called Fanny Chu.......

Yup it's working as a team that makes all the difference. What's interesting to me is that when you are an effective team on a boat you can be the same in the rest of the activities do together. There's a special satisfaction in that.

Re: "What make the perfect boat woman...perfect"

SHE is the admiral and provides typically strong, latin, forceful input into the day-to-day activities while anchored and some slight, suggestive input into the seasonal destinations. But when it comes to the sailing, she OBEYS. The skipper issues COMMANDS.

Works fine for us. YMMV!!
