Re: Whale Snags Anchor
Incredible!!! We used to have killer whales charge our seine nets in PNW as we were trying to bring the catch aboard. Never seen one tear out an anchor, though. Glad you had your camera handy. Phil

Re: Whale Snags Anchor
Similar thing happened in Tampa Bay many years ago. A couple of guys were fishing in a small boat and a large ray fouled their anchor rode. Took 'em for a ride -- heading offshore. Coasties came out in a bigger boat and helped them get untangled.

Re: Whale Snags Anchor
Couple of years ago we had a" pet" beluga for the summer. It loved to get the anchor rode across its snout, above the mouth and pull a boat around. Mostly they had one line to the dock also and thus didn't go far. Great fun. Really sociable critter.

Re: Whale Snags Anchor
2010 so could not have been.
But similar story, showed up in April or so and was there when we left in August.
The last thing we saw was an unmanned boat heading down the bay.

Re: Whale Snags Anchor
something like this happen to us about 20 years ago but it was with a big leatherback turtle that got its flipper caught on a hook on one of our surface longlines and he managed to pull a 50ft wooden boat ahead for nearly half a mile before it snapped the line it was something else to see
