So happy for your heat wave. I was the only one in the yard at Torresens in Muskegon May 11. Snow, sleet & hale. Most boats still have winter covers. perhaps 1 in 10 launched.

28 degrees F here last night (that's four degrees below freezing for you metric types), but we went to the boat this evening anyway and had a beer on the flybridge, coats and all. At least it's in the water.

So sorry to hear that Mike. When "Spring" came, it came really quick for us. The ice in our marina went from two feet to nothing in about ten days. I think the spring levels of the St Louis river helped.

we had spring here for a minuet--i know because i sneezed and coughed for a week or so with pollens....otherwise is perfect here...you need to nd suffering and sail south. is the cure.

Re: We Have Suffered Enough

This picture was taken yesterday May 12, 2013 at about 5:00 PM. It is Lake Medora in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Yesterday morning some areas got 2 inches of snow. Ice this late is fairly unprecedented.

The couple boats that were put in the water last week had a light dusting of snow Sunday.

I guess average means there has to be outliers on both sides of the distribution.

you guys live in areas wherein the temperature in daylight is not compatible with human life sans true fur.

you need to find latitude with kindlier weather....bbbbrrrrrr.......

we dont need fur here....unless the bikini is fur......

We are on our boat in Duluth and per Zeehag's advice and getting ready to head South when CBP releases us. Is the Keeweenaw waterway open? Any iced-in harbors we need to be aware of in your neck of the hoods?

Re: We Have Suffered Enough

The Keweenaw Waterway/Portage Lake is open. The last ice went off late last week. I don't know of any iced in harbors on the Keweenaw. Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor are both open. I have not been up to Lac Labelle recently but I know the cut was open. So I conclude that you are good to go. Please send me private post when you know your schedule or get to the waterway and I will come down and swap lies with you.

Glad to hear you're getting away Shane. Love to hear how the journey goes. We'll be following somewhat in your footsteps next year, although our current plan is to head out the St. Lawrence and then south -- probably over two (or more) seasons.

Fair winds to you

Sounds good. I will do that. We are now iced in by the CBP. I think we will be released in the next day or two and then we will head east the next time the wind starts swinging from NW to W.

The Sy Lawrence route sounds spectular. Will enjoy following your travels. Enjoy your planning, Mike!

Here in Brisbane Australia it is headed into winter. Time to pull out the long sleeve shirts instead of the short sleeves.
