Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

Holy Smokes, a nightmare! Not all that familiar with salvage laws but if someone beats him to it can they take it and charge him a small fortune to get his yacht back?

That may explain reluctance to disclose to much info.

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

I'm humbled by everyone's interest in my case.
If I could ask, any information you have on the position, please private message me rather than post it publicly.
Just to stop the above from happening

You guys are the best

If that does not work. Consider going to gmail and set up an account just for this.

If Satellite AIS is still reporting, if all else fails, why not charter a boat?

Word to the wise from a marine exsalvager...read Admiralty Law, Salvage laws. You must agree upon a price, in writing if possible before starting the salvage. A salvager is entitled to 50% of the value of the vessel if no agreement has been made. Once you have openly announced your boat was abandoned it is an open Salvage as to who gets
there first. Good Luck, safe travels.

Okay going to be very cold.

Might want to do the math. Will recovery and repair exceed value???

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

I'm sitting in Jolly Harbor Antigua right now.. I will post a link to this thread on the Antigua cruisers group on Facebook.

I also suggest you get a hold of "Adventure Antigua Extreme". They have fast powerful power boats and have helped with salvage before. If they can't help, they will lead you in the right direction.

Tell me it there is anything else I could do to help. I don't have a boat capable of towing a 53' yacht. Whatever I can do to help..

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

For an "aircraft contact" recommend you go in person to the island airport. ANY pilot or agent there would refer you in the right direction.
