UK Maritime Mobile Net - 14.303MHz

I frequently listen to the UK /MM Net on 14.303MHz daily at 08:00 GMT daily. Due to various reasons, I've not be able to get to the radio at that time so far this year until the past week or so. Hearing nothing, I emailed Bill/G4FRN, the net controller and this morning got an email back saying that Bill had died on the 12th February after a very brief and unexpected illness, it was all very sudden.

There's many who must miss his voice while sailing around European waters, and great sadness for his family.

Very sorry to hear that news. I kept in touch with Bill during our crossing in 2012.

So very sorry to hear of Bill's death. He will be greatly missed, not only by his family but by his larger family -- the hundreds of MM enthusiasts who have heard his voice for many years.

While posted in Morocco in the late 1970's I spoke with him many times on the UK Maritime Net. And, while on leave I had occasion to visit with him at his lovely home in Cobham in the late 1970's, and found him and his wife to be most gracious hosts.

RIP, Bill, and thanks for your untiring work to help mariners.
