Typing Euro and Pounds Sterling Signs

I know how to do this in MS Office but it doesn't work on posts. It don't like the alt key. Are the only ways to spell it out or type in another format and paste?
I couldn't find it in search.

Well.....you can use an 'alt code'.
Alt Code symbols on Laptop keyboard - fsymbols
If it's a laptop, function key + alt key. Depends on system.

Or even easier, just google 'euro sign', copy and paste.

Many, many years ago I was in the position of customizing a maintenance tracking application for my organization. When designing the screen I found there was no way to enter a "space". I called the developer and asked. He said it was not possible. I played around a bit and found that Alt 255 did what I wanted.

I was at their office one day and casually mentioned my find. The developer came out and shook my hand.

Holding the ALT key down:

0163 =£

0128 =€

234 =Ω

Re: Typing Euro and Pounds Sterling Signs

I know the alt key tricks but when I do it the cursor leaves the typing field here and the screen does a page up. € £ Ahh ha. I was doing it on the top numbers. When I number locked the side panel then it worked. Thanks.

Re: Typing Euro and Pounds Sterling Signs

Some folks have them on their keyboards. Obviously, if you're sitting in your office in London, it's quite helpful to have £ on the keyboard instead of remembering some code.

Macs and linux boxes are different too.

Re: Typing Euro and Pounds Sterling Signs

You could try changing the keyboard layout in your settings so that the computer thinks it has a UK or EU keyboard but you do need to be careful as other symbols and keys will also shift. For example on my UK Mac keyboard the # symbols is accessed by Alt+3, the @ symbol is Shift+2 and the € symbol is Alt+2. I think on a UK full size PC keyboard the € is accessed with AltGr+3 which opens up even more kettles of fish.

The various keyboards and symbol locations causes all sorts of problems when it comes to passwords, especially those that require a special symbol, capital letter, number etc. Can you imagine trying to type in your password on a US keyboard when you have a £ symbol in there?? Nightmare!!!

Just remember to change your keyboard back again don't do what a colleague did and lock his in French which is an AZERTY layout not QWERTY!!

Re: Typing Euro and Pounds Sterling Signs

Just to stir the pot a little more.....

How do I select English UK instead of English USA on webpages, sites and applications?

Surely there is no such thing as English USA as English is only English with only an occasional slight change in spelling......

I remapped mine, as its a major PITA on mac Uk keyboards.

Yes but IT systems often use that term to differentiate for the small differences
