Trebuchet on Board

I was going to bring my trebuchet on board when I go cruising. This is only for self protection and I promise not to attack any city states. So has anyone done this and are they tightly regulated by other countries?

I'd go with a cannon, more nautical, you can claim it just came with the boat.

Is a cannon a firearm? Or just armament?

Re: Trebuchet on Board

I think you should be good to go. You shouldn't have any problems passing the customs/immigration check-in:
-Do you have any firearms on board? --No.
-Do you have any knives or personal weapons on board? --No.
-Do you have any items on this list of prohibited items on board? --No.

As long as they don't ask, "Do you have any siege equipment on board?" you should be good.

Re: Trebuchet on Board

You got me thinking about how a trebuchet could be designed into the boat...

Re: Trebuchet on Board

I'm thinking outside the box here, so if I bought a used submarine and it had a few leftover torpedoes on board then that would be OK too?
It's not a firearm because my arm can't lift the dang thing.

it appears someone drew a picture of a chinese ship with a trebuchet.

Some one did carry one, they are not talking about it.

Re: Trebuchet on Board

what do you plan on using as ammunition? where will you store the 'rounds'? how many 'rounds' are you going to carry? How accurate do you think it will be? Is this on your 16' kayak?

so many questions

/like really?

Obviously you would use the ammunition around you. There are plenty of giant tiger sharks always close by. Launch them at the pirates;-)

I have this one in storage on land: https://www.amazon.com/Oakland-Balli...m_cr_pr_sims_t

It was a simple and fun kit to build and once tuned up will throw a golf ball sized rock a surprisingly long way. But if you are serious this one made to throw tennis balls should do the trick: https://www.oaklandballistics.com/tennis-ball

I'd rather have a ballista.

If you had a multihull you could carry a catapult.

You have to completely break down most of your rigging to construct one, but with knowledge of shears you should be fine.

Hey Bobber,

As it happens a neighbor kid built one using my old windsurfer mast. It worked great, so I think you're on the right track. He's now got a PHD and designs robots.
