The Tortoise or the Hare? What are you?

Aesop's Fable "The Tortoise and the Hare" is a story about a speedy hare that challenges a tortoise to a race. It is a morality tale that teaches that perserverance and determination will always win over talent and idleness and we learn the faster hare was ultimately defeated by the slower tortoise after he napped midway in the race. However, Lord Dunsany, 20th Century Irish writer and dramatist, interprets the fable differently imagining the hare realizing the absurdity of the challenge and refusing to go further as the "obstinate tortoise continues to the finishing line and is proclaimed the swiftest by his backers." In life and sailing we have a choice: to have talent and ability but perceive the absurdity of life and become distracted in our journey with varied meanderings along the way or to set goals in life and pursue them with "perserverance and determination" and follow a straight and steady line to completion.
