The Russians are coming!
a few hours ago i received an unconfirmed report from the university of grenada,st georges, that russian and chinese warships had been spotted entering caribbean waters off of the island of grenada ,steaming in the direction of venezuela.
i was wondering if anybody else has any info on this?
also any information regarding navigation issues that might be posed by an escalation of military tension in the region

Re: The Russians are coming!
It sounds like the Russians make regular trips there, have for many years, so this may be routine.

not sure if a flotilla of russian And chinese warships would constitute a routine visit, although according to the article there is some sort of drill going on at the moment

Re: The Russians are coming!
All I read was a Russian built VA helicopter crashed and some blurb about Russia selling a fraction of the arms to Venezuela that the US/UK has sold to Saudi for use in Yemen.
Just more propaganda hype and nothing about joint Chino/Russo fleets in the Caribe.
Its de Bogeyman..

Just hope they do collision avoidance better than our warships....

Re: The Russians are coming!
well i hope someone is going to stop the americans escilating a position which they have manufactured over the last ten years, another cival war will certainly please the american war industry and their oil barrons but will not do much for the already sacraficed peoples of that country,, i hope it is true .

From the title of the post, I thought a bunch of gangsters with gaudy clothes, gold chains and and the interior design sense of Donald Trump were moving in next door!

that article was just a reference to the military exercise that the venezuelans are currently running.
i posted it as a possible explanation as to why the russians and chinese are moving assets/vessels into the area.
that is apart from the obvious reason;IE the dictatorship believes it is about to be invaded by america, which i think would be unlikely, even with EU support.
the good news is there should be a sharp decrease in piracy with russian vessels patrolling

Re: The Russians are coming!
Admiral Sonovavich, I accept your offer to cruise off of the Maracaibo coast.
Would it be possible to get some Euros, US Dollars or even Yen before we go? Last time we were there Rubles were worthless.

Re: The Russians are coming!
A Russian acquaintance once explained to me that the evidence for thermal expansion was that the days length in the summertime is longer than the days length in colder winter and that the astronomical Red shift observed in the spectrum of distant fleeing stars is obvious because cars heading towards you have white lights, but those moving away have red lights.
Trump that.
