Re: The Future of Cruising Post-Outbreak

The WHO just declared the Ebola outbreak the worst medical crisis of modern history. Of course, they are overstating things. Don't they sell news?
Please prepare, and don't panic. Think rationally.
We will get through this.

Re: The Future of Cruising Post-Outbreak

Now everything has gone totally stupid thanks to the US government leadership not shutting down flights from West Africa into the US.

It's all over the TV, the Boston Logan international airline terminal is shut down with dozens of emergency vehicles, and dozens of hazmat spacemen surrounding an Arab Emerates flight from Dubai, because... someone threw up on the plane. So now I guess, every time someone throws up on a plane or in an emergency room... lock-down for the poor unfortunates who happen to be there, then the hazmat men go to work on you.

Apparently the government plan is to treat everyone who throws up like they have Ebola. Idiotic.

Damn, and I just bought stock in a company that makes those fake-puke gag toys. I guess the TSA won't allow them on flights anymore, huh?

Love this man.. always one step ahead of the enemy.. even when it comes down to medical aid...

Former President Fidel Castro praised the Cuban doctors and nurses who traveled to Sierra Leone to combat the epidemic of Ebola and invited doctors from countries with more resources to join this effort.
A group of 165 Cuban doctors and nurses traveled to Sierra Leone on Wednesday, part of a total of 461 health workers from Cuba offered several weeks ago to go to Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
"The delivery of the first medical brigade to Sierra Leone ... is an example of a country which can boast"

#MeanwhileInHysteriaville...

Read somewhere on the internet that you can catch Ebola by looking at Liberia on Google maps.

Can't be too safe I say!

Re: The Future of Cruising Post-Outbreak

It doesn't matter if the US shuts down direct flights, the only "flight safety" will be to crate the runways and shut down all outbound air traffic from the plague zone. No, no one would ever think of doing that. Except, perhaps, after the first significant outbreak anywhere in the EU or western world. Since the locals haven't been willing to self-quarantine...cratering the runways will help.

As to the worst epidemic in modern history? My friend Wiki thinks "Modern history, also referred to as the modern period or the modern era, is the historiographical approach to the timeframe after the post-classical era (known as the Middle Ages)."

Which means they think it is worse than Spanish Flu and a couple of other biggies. And that just ain't so. That's trash talk hyperbole, and it only serves to reduce the credibility of everything anyone at CDC has to say. Stupidity? Or psyops?

No one is panicking yet, but in the US, Amazon is sold out of the most serious hazmat suits, the real sealed suits. With no restocking dates available. Hmmmm.....I'll be an optimist and say this means the hospitals are finally ordering in the right supplies.
