Thanks to SV Third Day

Many thanks to SV Third Day for being understanding during this past weekend's "green fleet" Opti regatta in Morro Bay. The race committee dropped the windward mark way too close to him, and that was before the tide change swung him almost into it.

I could imagine how frustrating it might have been. But they fired up the engine and swung themselves up current on the mooring to let the kids by. As the parent of one who was enjoying his first travelling regatta, I thank you, as do the rest of our teams parents.

JRM

Good one, for both Rich (third day) for doing the good deed, and for JRM for reporting and thanking him.

In a world populated by too many dickheads, it is uplifting to see posts like this!

That photo makes it look like SV Third Day is a mother duck with a flotilla of ducklings.

Re: Thanks to SV Third Day

Good for you Rich! This reminds me of a regatta (lasers or 420s I think) that I was photographing some 20 years ago, when a boat like Rich's came barreling towards the fleet in Annapolis. When I called out to them to tack to avoid running through, the helmsman's response ...."Do you know what it takes to tack this thing"???!!!

Luckily nobody was run over.

Re: Thanks to SV Third Day

We had a similar experience with a powerboater who not only stopped to let the kids go across his bow but also backed down so as not to block their wind. It was a big trawler so I would like to think he was a 'retired' sailor.
