Swedish boat staying in Canary Islands a couple of years

Hi. Anybody who knows how long I can stay with a swedish registrered and taxed boat in the Canary Ilands begore going to another country. Does it need to be outside EU or can I take a short trip to Madeira?
I have heard that it is pissible to byt a permition/ registration which makes it possible to stay how long I want to. Any comments to that?

As an EU registered boat you should be able to keep her there indefinitely, however you may become liable for some local taxes like 'light due's' etc..
You however depend on your nationality.. are you an EU citizen.?? if so you may be required to apply for residency after 12 months.
These thing vary from country to country.

Wait for the Marina office to contact you, I presume they have your home address etc.. if anything comes due they will notify you as these days everything is handled via the marina from Customs onwards.
Or wander down and chat with the manager.

Re: Swedish boat staying in Canary Islands a couple of years

I have a UK registrated yacht which has been in Lanazote for the last 9 years. We fly back and forth but the yacht stays put. Last year I checked with the marina if I might run into trouble with tax and the reply was that as long you are in transit no problem, Defination of transit was as long as I visit other ports and keep the receipts. If your boat never leaves port you may have a problem. As regards BREXIT I don't think anybody knows, The Cruising Assoc website' keeps members up to date on regular basis
