St Tropez

We just spent a couple of days in St Tropez watching the regatta. The BOATS. Lionheart, Valsheada, Elena, Moonbeam, Manitou (jfk's).
Just about every classic yacht seen oin those black and white Beken of Cowes photo's.
The great thing was that the race course is set up just offshore so you can watch easily from the hill sides.
This is no parade, they sail the wheels of these things gunwales under and bones in their teeth.
There is also a modern yacht class with several 100 foot plus Wallys , man are they fast. There is a builder here called Blackpepper yachts they look old but are modern and sweeet looking. Some of the yachs where to big to get into the harbour.

You know that your in a different snack bracket when the tenders are 40 foot ribs. The town is lovely with the Provencal colours glowing in the sunset. The harbour is surrounded by cafes and boutiques.
It is packed but the atmosphere is great, it is the right kind of busy.
I am a multihull guy but more than that I am a boat guy and if you are as well You owe it to yourself to get St Tropez to see this display.
It is held every year at the end of September as is called "les Voilles de St Tropez "
