Squeaky Sole

Just bought a 2011 Catalina 42. During the survey I noticed that the floor/sole squeaked. I brought it to the surveyor's attention but got no response. This is my third sailboat so knew this wasn't the norm.

Any suggestions on how to quiet a noisy floor?

Re: Squeaky Sole

If you pull up the offending sole area's I'm sure you will find the floor supports either wasted or rotten/soft and require replacement ,

Surveyor should have picked up on this and removed offending floor for inspection as this is a very common issue

Cheers Steve

The sole decking is moving somewhat in relation to the fiberglass frame stringers it rests on. It is not an uncommon problem and can usually be solved by spraying a squirt or two of SailKote dry lube into the offending joint. It may take a few applications but it does work.

FWIW...
