Hi Harbourboy, i write this only to provide inspiration.

I had a wonderful experience two days ago. We are at island called Bazaruto of Mozambique, sand dunes and beaches mixed with African straw huts.

We had a party the other day to celebrate Dustins "choosing to live".

Ive known Dustin for approx 3 years, he is attempting to be the first double amputee to sail by himself around the world and I can assure you he will succeed.

The other day approx 30 of us celerbrated the 10th anniversary of his motorbike accident in which he lost an arm an a leg. Lying on the side of the road bleeding out he 100% knew what was happening. With his good arm he paused prior to pressing the 911 button, he consciously decided he wanted to live.

Once at the hospital his condition was so bad that the doctor asked him if he wants them to try to save him or just let him go, his reply was "one hour ago i decided i was going to live, I haven't changed my mind".

He lived, recovered and decided he was going to do something big. With NO sailing experience he decided to sail around the world. He left Hawaii approx 5-6 years back.

Every year he celebrates his accident and the day he decided to live.

Its an honor to know such a man. Hes the greatest example i know of the power of choice and attitude.

I realize your situation is different BUT i also understand ones mind (attitude) can move mountains.

Dale, thanks so much for sharing Dustin’s story. A very timely reminder that there are very few limits to the human spirit. That you would take the time to reach out to a perfect stranger on the other side of the world is pretty awesome as well.
I will beat this disease, I will restore my new boat and I will chase the horizon. Cheers to you and Dustin. May our paths cross some day sooon.

He's proving to me that alot limitations can be overcome with the right mindset.

Throws diving gear on and dives with us. I push a button for an electric winch where his winches aren't even self tailing. He pulled a 25kg yellow fin tuna in the other day while crossing the Mozambique channel, that's a handful for the two of us onboard yet he takes it in his stride..... It's humbling.

Appreciating the moment is everything, I'm still working on it. People are often looking for meaning, the meaning is life it's self, it's a gift.

I think Anns advice is right on, one day at a time and that applies to all of us.
