Re: Severe engine room flooded with salt water rinsing procedure?

Since your engine was running you may want to check your oil for salt water.Engine oil seals are designed to keep oil in your engine.Water can get in if your engine is running and submerged.

Re: Severe engine room flooded with salt water rinsing procedure?

I've salvaged flooded engines. Usually the starters, etc., can be made to run again if well flushed and fully dried before power is applied. Enclosed items like most starters have to be disassembled. I usually put the parts in an oven at the lowest setting or in sunlight on hot days. If not fully dried, they short out.

It still runs however the solenoid that engages the turning mechanism is stuck in the closed position
