Seahawk 44 Harder problem.

I antifouled my boat in March this year in Trinidad with 3 full coats of Seahawk 44 Harder and an additional coat around the waterline.
Within 4 month the paint was polished off, not peeled off, in some areas down to the primer.

My rudders and dagger boards were painted with ablative Pacifica Plus, this paint is still intact.

There is obviously a problem with the Seahawk 44. Has anybody got a similar problem with Seahawk 44?
The company rep. seems to think I'm the only one.

Re: Seahawk 44 Harder problem.

We have Island 44 applied professionally two years ago in Tortola. My waterline 3 inches and leading edge of the rudder were pretty clean by the time we reached Chaguaramos, Trinidad this past June. The rest of the boat was still coated and totally clean without any scrubbing. I can’t recall if there is a recommended primer/tie coat.

My experience with several bottom paints was to apply a bit thinned and in several thinner coats. I think even the harder Island 44 is soft and does not stand up to much abuse. Another application to be applied at Power Boat this month.

I responded on the other post that it cannot be applied over any other bottom paint including any Seahawk. Never seen any issues with it.

Re: Seahawk 44 Harder problem.

We don’t have experience with the 44. We just completed first year cruising Lake Erie to Florida, over to Bahamas and back to west coast Florida with Seahawk BioCop. After 12 months, bottom was clean and paint fully intact. I believe Seahawk describes it as a hybrid - semi hard ablative.

Re: Seahawk 44 Harder problem.

I have used Seahawk BioCop TF for the last 2 haulouts with no issues.
