Re: Sea of Cortez video
Stunning. What an amazing adventure. Those whales are so graceful and the anchorages beautiful and isolated.
Now a Mavic Pro is in my shopping list! And the Sea of Cortez on my cruising plans... |

Re: Sea of Cortez video
Beautiful camera work, very smooth. I loved the overhead shots of whales and dolphins, very dramatic. These are my cruising grounds, so I recognized a lot of the places. Well done! I have to sharpen my drone-flying skills.
Cheers, Bill

Re: Sea of Cortez video
Thanks for sharing. Where do you harbor your boat in the off season? I have a trimaran in San Carlos Marina. You have a beautiful cat. What part of Mexico is your favorite cruising area? Loved your drone footage. Tx

Re: Sea of Cortez video
Thanks to all for the kind words. This was my first attempt at filming and editing a video so it's nice to know it was appreciated. A lot of folks see the Sea of Cortez as a barren wasteland with a beach, but to my wife and I is is one of the most stunning and diverse cruising grounds we have visited. All to often we see sailors making a beeline from Cabo or La Paz to the mainland in search of warm water and beach bars, missing all the natural beauty, wildlife and isolation that the Sea has to offer. We have moved on south now, but when we are done having a look at the rest of the world we plan to return, as so many do, to spend our winters poking about the SoC.

Re: Sea of Cortez video
Very nice. I miss the Sea. Amazing whale footage, especially those Fin Whales! Been way too long... I doubt I will ever experience it again. But it's gwonderful.

O...M...G. I am so going. Reminds me a bit of the Galapagos in tone, which I loved.

Re: Sea of Cortez video
It is a big place, and certainly worthy of any amount of time you can spend there. Most of the anchorage shots were from Isla Espiritu Santo, Isla San Franciso, Bahia Las Animas, Isla Angel de la Guardia (Este Ton and Estanque) and San Juanico. Whales were mostly around the Loreto area where they are pretty thick after January. Dolphins at San Francisquito, blue whale and mantas near Isla San Pedro Martir. These are just a few of the spectacular anchorages in the Sea. We were showing our photos and film clips to some friends last night and I kept thinking "why didn't I put that one in". Can't wait to get back some day.
