sailors and video's do not mix

i have been watching sailing videos for a few years.
why is it people do not understand how to make them so you can enjoy them?
what i propose is i can make a how-to video on how to record video on the water with wind present.
if there is enough interest i will.
i am a semi-pro videographer, and published photographer.

Re: sailors and video's do not mix

I know exactly what you mean. Half the videos on youtube are completely terrible to the point of being unwatchable and the other half have very high odds of being totally boring. If you have the ability, please educate the masses! And we'd love to see it as well to learn how to improve.

lol yes i can, if you have about $250,000 for the video, plus the cost of whatever boat you want.

Not really: a 39' sailboat mid-ocean by yourself is not a great place to hang out and "meet somebody"! ;-)

Re: sailors and video's do not mix

Mine completely suck.

What would be interesting is to discuss why the videos of gales and storms and big, breaking waves look completely tame once viewed on a screen.

I've heard that you are supposed to tape some foam over the mic to reduce the wind noise. My cameras aren't good enough to worry about that so I reduce the sound level and splice in a song.

Vocally and at the time or digitally and afterwards?

I'm hoping to solve or at least lessen the wind noise with the help of a dead kitten
