Just watching news and it has been reported a wing part known as a flapperon which is part of a Boeing 777 found washed ashore on the island of reunion it is not confirmed as yet if it is of the Malaysian Boeing 777 that went missing some 16 months ago

Re: Plane debris

Yeah, just read about that too. They said that the part was covered with shells. So it must have been floating for a while.

Gooseneck barnacles don't take long to grow.... I doubt if the part was antifouled... and - as a man on the radio just said - there aren't many 777s missing in the Indian Ocean.

Good point, there aren't that many airplane parts that are antifouled. So, it must have come off of the bottom, sometime.

Re: Plane debris

It will be interesting if they do a model on the flow currents which are anti clock wise in that region and a basic time line to determine the possible crash point or where it went down to where they have thought it might go down and if there is any more debris floating of the the island of reunion

Re: Plane debris

Saw a report with currents shown from conjectured crash site to where the part was find. The current was a straight line from the crash site to where the part washed up.

Re: Plane debris

Well, I think it will be safe to say the crash site wasn't in North Korea or Kazakistan.......
