Can't wait for sailorboy1 to read this. Unless I'm really out to lunch. Which of course is a regular occurrence for me. Sigh.

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,
Its all about the civility requirement. A fairly unusual event on the net given the variation in opinions. There is of course a difference in seriousness when comparing an anchor thread to a gun thread or as recently, gross failure in the keel of a very expensive yacht. A person new to the forum likely will not perceive the humor in an anchor thread.

Humor? in an anchor thread? and here I thought it was deadly serious business!

Thank you for the kind words. As soon as I get my foot out of the dust, I'll try and say what a pleasant surprise they were.

Just had to go and burst my self-image didn't you? All these years I've been thinking that I have been bedazzling them with my brillance and not befuddling them with my bullsh*t
Oh cruel world!

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

There are more of us around than you are counting. I'm only a month from your entry date and I try to stay "even handed". When considering those that are gone, there are those that I miss too, but I would not assume they left with disappointment.

Widely available SIM cards, ubiquitous cell coverage and relatively cheap data plans.
The days of being "out there" are long gone for most of the world.
Mark (connected here due to a 3G cell tower put up just for about 50 residents (~10-20 actually present at any time) on an island surrounded by uninhabited wilderness for 100nm).

Does repeatedly being called "out of your freaking mind!!" count?
