Re: On getting liked and getting along..,

Wow, I didn't think about how long I have been on here, coming up on ten years in one month. I know I just get too busy to wade thru all the "information" that is given and can be found by our board members. I know I have found some good things and tried to post some helpful (I hope they are) comments to some post and problems fellow members have.

With that said, back to work.

Here is wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season no matter whatever type anchor, head, hull numbers, or color of sail you have.

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,

I think a lot happens in our lives in 10 years. If you really study you eventually reach a place where you feel limited on the amount of meaningful specifics you can retain, and despair a bit over everything you thought you knew evolving. You also see all sides of peoples preferences and realize that personal preference means a lot. Then hopefully you actually go and start the learning process all over.

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,

I always wonder why people have to get negative in their tone on this site. I have never read anyone asking for advice that asked it in a harsh way, but some of the responses irk me. Especially the opes that say "it's been answered before, go look it up." I appreciate all that I learn daily, txs to all of you that contribute your wisdom and wit, but some of you really need to chill!

Re: On getting liked and getting along..,

Class of 2006 for me. I tire of certain personalities at times for sure. For me “being right” is just a snapshot in time, and it only applies to that moment. I know I don’t know everything, and I change my mind over the years too, so why act like I’m all knowing”? I have learned to just laugh internally at those that think their opinions are always and forever right in each situation. Now I just state an opinion or thought and move on. Sometimes I’ll post on page 2 of a thread and not come back until I notice its 15 pages! Once they get that long you can bet 2 or 3 people are in a war of words trying to prove who is right!

Being a lefty, weirdo, social misfit, unintelligent, unimpressive late in life small boat sailor, 73 yr old, i can only say I read these forums mostly and appreciate all I have learned from them.
Thank you, James

Truly remarkable, especially when you consider how many parts of the mainland US lack decent, affordable coverage.

And yet some seek out those places far from coverage.

I went through that phase, and learned many years ago that it doesn't work. If they did, they wouldn't ask, right?

So I did this over on our C34 website: Over the past decade or more, "regular" topics come up repeatedly. In developing responses to questions, many of us use the handy links to earlier discussions. I've recently begun to develop some "101" topics, which are groups of links to popular subjects and those discussions. I'll leave this topic as a sticky, and add any new "101"s that may develop. Many of them include links to other websites and message boards, since boat systems are not always boat-specific.

I use links a lot.

The questions that still stomp my brain (yeah, easy to do!) are the "What's the BEST...?" I'm still workin' on a generic answer to that.

I just looked at my avatar. I've been here since 2003?

Ever consider the possibility that you are the "normal" one and it's the rest of them that have the "conformity issues"???

Sometimes I think the entire world has gone crazy, except for you and I.

And now that I think about it.......you've been acting a little bit funny lately....
