Marijuana business hopefuls approach govt (Bahamas)

https://thenassauguardian.com/2019/0...approach-govt/

First let me say that I am generally against any recreational marijuana use, Period. I do accept and understand true medical uses but not in public that is simply a cover for recreational use.

Personally if someone, anyone wants to drug themselves to death I am Ok with that, just do it somewhere where you do not bother others. The problem is with the criminals who follow the drugs as they are both inside and outside of any government.

I have been aboard many vessels and when the weed comes out I leave, what they do is their business but I do not have to be around it.

Governments are making it easier for people to drug themselves into submission allowing the bureaucracy to gain power, money and in the process becoming more criminal and corrupt.

Cool. Hope they move forward with legalization. It’s the civilized thing to do.

Of course, you can already come to Canada, where we decriminalized recreational weed last year. So far, the sky hasn’t fallen.

Yet. Wait until other drugs are legalized, Magic Mushrooms (Colorado) Heroin, Meth, Oxy, Crack or maybe Fentanyl.

Where do you draw the line?

Exactly. Legalize it all. Stop treating adults like children.

Of course, why some drugs are illegal (marijuana, for example), while others are not (alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, etc.) has more to do with social control and power, and little to do with potential harmful effects. If the latter were really the focus, then alcohol would easily be banned as one of the most destructive recreational drugs ever imaged.

… Of course, we tried that once, and look how that ended. The same is now happening with marijuana. Prohibition is crumbling, just like it did with booze. And none to soon I say.

Draw the line at 18 or 21 years of age. Make all of it legal, thru drug stores.

You could eliminate the cartels & corruption, but you could never eliminate the demand.

Oxy is already legal, tobacco is legal, alcohol is legal.

I'm sorry but if you consider cannabis as a drug and not alchohol, then anything you say should be discarded. Cannabis is no different than any of the other legal substances in the world. If you are fighting against everything then okay I understand, but fighting against cannabis as a drug in which will ruin someone's life is wrong.

I've never see any major problems come about from cannabis intoxicated people unlike I have seen with alcohol or other substances.
