No, there are not, nor are there many. Documentaries? tons. Sailing documentaries? not many. Liveaboard documentaries, a handful.

I love watching them, and I hope to see more. Eventually I would like to contribute. Perhaps not a documentary, but videos of my thoughts and experiences sailing/cruising/living aboard targeted to non sailors.

I'll more than likely post it here on the forum. I thought that maybe I'd vlog about it regularly, but I will probably plan it all out to do just a few videos that cover topics a bit more systematically. A one-time thing. I know what I can do, and I wont promise any more than that.

I was going to thank the poster of this Hold Fast on Vimeo, but the post seems to be gone now. That's an awesome documentary.

Celebrity status is not going to happen with sailing. That world is much different.

Has nothing to do with sailing. Its the content of each video you make. That was my point with Jenna marbles. If you had similar content, but done on a boat. I'd your video only caters to sailors, I agree, you would not get that big.

Re: Liveaboard Documentary?

I would think if a Pro made a film about Liveaboard folks, with the proper amount of lovery places to see, mixed with a little at sea bad weather, with a little education value, sorta like the TV program "Distant Shores" might very well do well !! at least the Distant Shores has sure worked for the folks on this show! Started with a homebilt boat and now have nice custom bilt shallow draft vessel ! all paid for by the programs popularty!! Anyway if it had some good looking folks in it, it might do well ! Who knows ? At least we could all see it and run it down on here LOL something sorta like a couple of threads we have going right now !! LOL

Re: Liveaboard Documentary?

Have you tried starting a kickstarter campaign? Many amateur vidographers have projects that get funded just for the educational value of it.

I just watched this video on Vimeo "Hold Fast" and I agree, it was really, really good and entertaining to watch, and frankly inspiring. A bunch of 20-something kids off on a sailing adventure of a lifetime. You can download it for free and it was just fun to watch.
