Re: Is Boating Dangerous ?

A roling mono and a dock is a reasonable certainty of some or the other injury if you are not extra careful! I like the net idea, just need to figure it out but it can work!

Re: Is Boating Dangerous ?

Boating is definitely dangerous .... particularly if you start debating the merits of firearms or not, various types of anchor, mutihull or mono, etc, etc.

Other than that, its no more or less dangerous than any other all consuming, illogical, expensive and potentially life threatening passion. Its all about risk management .... just like flying, or sky diving or SCUBA diving. To the uninitiated these all seem terrifically hazardous ..... just as hurtling along a road at 55 mph would seem to an Amish gent, but to the average car driver it's normal.

Same same.

Re: Is Boating Dangerous ?

Knock on wood, I have not had a real issue on the water, my incidents have all been at the dock, loading, unloading and beaching. I preceive it to be dangerous on the water, may be why my issues are on land or at the docks.

Re: Is Boating Dangerous ?

Just today i realized just how safe sailing actualy is ... driving a vehicle on a open road is probably one of the most hazzardous experiences we expose ourselves to unknowingly ... day after day ... week after week and years after years ... we carry a bomb in our vehicles boot that will ignite with just a spark! .... speak about dangerous! .... has anyone thought about that 4 pieces of rubber on which you rely to carry you at 100 km per hour ... that is trust we ourselves developed and now for the bumper risk ... just think about this ... traveling in a vehicle at 100 km per hour in one direction while another vehicle approach also at a hundred km per hour with only a narrow white line in between the two vehicles!!!!!

I guess sailing cannot be a as dangerous!
