John was an inspiration, and I loved reading his posts.

I was with John and Mel on the sail from Green Cove Springs, Fl. to Cartagena Colombia. He was a great story teller, one hell of a sailor, and a true friend. I learned so much from him because he was also a wonderful teacher. Here is a shot from our trip-

This reminds me of a friend named John Shaul, who cruised around the Caribbean with a friend of mine Freidl, then sailed to lake Michigan and ran a charter service out of South Haven Michigan. He later returned to the Caribbean, and died aboard his boat..not sure about how he was found, but was at anchor, and someone found his body...he died doing what he loved. He was a friend to all he met. Kindred spirits I am sure.

John has gone down the path we all must trod. He is a reminder to me to be better, more cheerful and remember we are just temporarily here. People that are kind to others, they seem to go in peace.

Was at the Bermuda Botanical Gardens recently. It's the time for the Fresia, Double Fantasy to bloom and they are beautiful. John named the album after the flower. Our John would have liked that.
Deck Officer, was in Atlanta recently with the Shelby Cobra Friends. Told them about CF connection with John and Mel.
Lot of quiet reflection of a friend lost.
