Yes. I hate that bayou. I'll never boat in it again. It's entirely too shallow.

It may have HAD a keel, but not any more.... Talk about a guaranteed "OH, S##T" response.

By the looks of it, the keel isn't the only thing they forgot about.

Looks like they're just trying to salvage it with limited resources.

Re: I guess someone forgot to tell them...

Actually, they knew exactly what they were doing.
1. reduced excess ballast in the keel
2. sanded the bottom prior to new bottom paint.
3. faired all underwater mushroom seacocks for better performance
4. streamlined the rudder
5. created a self-draining cockpit.

I think it was brilliant - all that restoration done before they even got the boat to the shop.

The boat even has two outboards mounted on brackets! Took a page from the Noardhavn book, they did. Larger, more powerful main engine, and a smaller one to get home with if the main failed! Genius.

Well it DID have two outboards...

I pass by the boat ramp yesterday and its either been looted, or the owners stripped what they could and left the hull on the ramp - PARTIALLY BLOCKING IT - to rot there. The only thing left on the boat is the mast. The trailer is gone, and its sitting on its side now.
