Frankly, almost anyplace at all on the Caloosahatchee will suffice in all but the very worst of the worst. There are miles of distance and miles of mangrove to slow down the surge. Even Cape Harbour Marina in
Cape Coral, the very last marina at the end of the river, had very good
insurance rates for year-round stays. From an actuarial perspective, Ft. Myers (not Ft. Myers Beach) is a safe area.
