Hurricane Arthur

I'm sitting in Cricket Cove Marina, waiting out Arthur. Should only see a tropical storm here.
6:36 Rain started, not too heavy but building. Wind 10 mph SSE.

Best of luck to those of you on the Outer Banks of North Carolina:

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Looks like we will get some wind and rain sat. Still waiting to see if the storm surge will come with high tide. I got some preparing to do. Calling for 55 knot winds so far.....

Don:

Hopefully, the worst you'll get will be a nice washdown for the boat. I'm jumping on a train in DC tommorrow hoping to get up to Long Island in time to watch the fireworks while on the mooring. The storm should be heading well off the coast up there.

For you weather watchers out there who are unfamiliar with the Earth Wind Map, I link below to the Mean Sea Level Pressure overlay. A great resource.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Good luck to ya'll in the path. We only got the very outer bands down here on the South Florida coast. Not even as bad as our summer afternoon thunderstorms.

Delancy. Cool. There's also apps that will alert you when there's a hurricane and show their tracks and current wind speed n estimated future wind speed.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Arthur is gone, no problems at all. I saw only two gusts over 30 knts, and the eye passed within two miles. Good night from Little River.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

My boat is up between Bath and Belhaven and the worst is yet to come. I'm here a few hundred miles away and am nervous with the turn further west towards where the boat is docked. Once the storm passes that area I'm anxious to hear how everyone in the marina faired.

We saw a good many folks were caught off guard and hadn't started prepping their boats at all as of last night. Like good neighbors we stowed as much as we could below deck on their boats. After that we did our best to lash down the rest. Hopefully it was enough to keep their property safe.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Good on ya, Downtime. However, it is amazing how great the burst of energy is when you're waiting to be struck by a cyclone! Good luck, I hope you come through unscathed.
