Re: Hurricane Arthur

Looks like all 10 boats in the marina faired ok. We dodged a bullet this time.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

1730 Newport Harbor... Lots of rain.. winds no more than 20knots from ENE... really a heavy rainstorm... no thunder... no high gusts.

Dampened July 4th but not much of weather event in the harbor.

update 1800 winds now up to 28 knots.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Wind never above about 15 knots in Manhasset Bay and not even much rain - a pity, we'd oxalic acid treated the deck and stanchions and were expecting the rain to rinse it off more thoroughly.

It appears there was no need for us to rush through New York and up to here - it's been less wind and rain than either of the last two evenings, but better safe than sorry;at least we've a good excuse for returning to NY next year now!

Re: Hurricane Arthur

Just took a train from DC to Long Island this afternoon. DC was sunny and beautiful. Approaching NYC it looked ominous but, heading out of the tunnel to Long Island the sun was starting to poke out. Fifty miles east it was a breezy nasty drizzle. Over on Block Island got a report it was rocking and rolling that a dingy had flipped over.

Re: Hurricane Arthur

If your only problem was a flippin' dink, you had a good storm.
