Hi from a new member!

I just would like to introduce ourselves.
We are a family of 4 seeking to master our sailing skills! Our kids are still young, under 3 yo, so they still out of the big crossings (over 3 hours sail)
We Just bought our first boat, a 2013 Jeanneau 41DS and keep her in Key West, FL.
We will do our first trip to the Dry Tortugas National Park in few weeks (no kids) We are planing to do the trip overnight. Any thoughts?
We have cruised on chartered boats before on Long Island Sound, NY and Catalina Islands, CA as well from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to the Keys.
The boat is also available for bareboat charter, if anyone is interested. Just shoot me a message. We can work it out great deals.
Nice to virtually meet you all! Looking forward to some great advice and knowledge!

Re: Hi from a new member!

Welcome to CF. What are your plans for sailing beyond short cruises?

Regarding your kids, fully net your lifelines all the way around your boat and bring them with you. Why not? Create a safe and comfortable space for them on one of the guest berths. Childproof your galley and make sure all system switches are either too high or covered so little fingers canít turn off your autopilot or bilge pumps. Be prepared to single hand most of the time, so make sure youíre set up to hoist/douse sails, tack, gybe, reef, moor, and anchor on your own. But families do cruise with their youngsters.

If you are planning to privately charter your boat then that belongs in one of the classifieds forums - please donít pollute the sailing-related forums with your business. And of course ensure your insurance, registration and boat clearance (if outside the US) all support your charter business - youíre no longer considered a pleasure craft.
