HEY! Ronnie Simpson in Nov. 2015 Cruising World

He sure has come a long way since he first came here as a noob with some of the "same old" questions.

He seems to have slugged it out and made it a fair distance.

Gotta love the Marine in him. (heh).

YOU GO DUDE!!!

Too sad that over 20 vets a day are committing suicide though.

The highest number (like maybe 75%) are over 50 yrs. old.
It says a lot about the non-war "wars" we have had since the (second) Big One.

One-hand-tied-behind-the-back type.

But if I get going I will surly PO a lot of folks...............

If you're in the charitable contribution mood, don't forget the Wounded Warriors Program.

To all who donate to any charity.
Beware of where your dollars go.

There are many Wounded Warrior(s) Program (Project) (Wives) (Family) "things" out there.

Look them up first.

Unfortunately this is very sage advice, and people should be extra vigilant with charities these days.

Most do far more harm than good, and an unfortunate percentage, are preoccupied with exploiting the old and vulnerable, to extract as much cash as they can to support massive personal wages and expense accounts.

I really woke up to this when my late uncle, a Dr of Tropical Diseases, who had spent a lot of his life running research and treatment clinics in many parts of the World, instructed me that under no circumstances whatsoever, was I ever to donate anything to a foreign aid organisation, because of the acute damage they were doing everywhere they went in the Third World.

So I stick with donations to SSAFA and RBL (plus donations to the local Royal Marines Cadets when they have a project going), which are both veterans organisations over here (a close friend was very active with SSAFA when it started, and my father was Chairman of the local RBL branch for a very long time), and the RNLI (a volunteer outfit like the USCG, and I know a lot of the local volunteers and helpers, who are great people). Also, I only donate to the RBL local branch, which will use the money locally, as there are now serious doubts about those occupying RBL HQ (this was why SSAFA got started).

Inspect the books, see where the money actually goes, before you hand over any money.

PS Another eye opener, was a local pensioner who had to go to a Residential Care Home for a while. A friend and myself went to her house to make sure it was aired, cleaned, and ready to have some supplies for when she came home. You would not believe the amount of heart pulling begging letters from so called 'Charities' that had come through her letterbox while she was away. I filled FIVE rubbish bags with them! She had been away a bit over a month.

Re: HEY! Ronnie Simpson in Nov. 2015 Cruising World

I had to look them up, so FWIW:
RBL = The Royal British Legion
SSAFA = Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (UK)
