It must be close to sunrise now. Conditions always seem better when rosy fingered dawn makes an appearance.

Did you manage to catch any shut eye?

You're in for a cracker when the wifi finally comes back up!!

Back to topic, it's blowing like stink here in SW London. Reminds me why we moved the boat from the Solent to Portugal

Well the house is still standing, but its a tad breezy still for rowing out to the boat in Portsmouth Harbour to check her over. Perhaps later on this afternoon.

That's the official graphic representation of Caulkhead Force Blow Me Down

Well, sleeping was touch and go, as we heeled quite a lot in the big gusts and hung from the lines taken opposite. I had things flying around in the cabin like when I go to sea without preparing the cabin properly, so I had to get up and rectify that.

The storm has passed by now and I'm pleased that there is no damage of any kind. Saving grace was that the storm was S and SW -- if it had been a Noreaster of that force there would have been carnage from the swell.

Some of my neighbors didn't fare so well. One large Bavaria heeled over so far that it bashed its hull on the electric podium on the pontoon. But no one broke loose. People were out checking on each other all night.

Yes, Eos rhododaktylos was very welcome this morning, and following her appearance I did get a big of a snooze, thanks for asking.

Apparently gusts in the 90's were recorded at the Needles last night (109 mph). That was actually quite a blow.

My neighbor informs me that last night was the 11th Force 10 we've had since the beginning of the year. I know it's windy here in the winter time, but that's quite a lot even for us, isn't it?

I guess folks in New Zealand will be laughing at us, though.

Yeah, in Kiwi I think Force 10 is classified as "a bit fresh, eh wot, mate?"

Maybe someone who understands weather can explain how a winter storm up here can look so much like a tropical rotating one:

Weird.

Quite a bit of destruction has been reported, as well as a number of destroyed yachts in Portsmouth Harbor and elsewhere:

Indeed, second very wet and windy winter in a row and a while since we had snow in 2010/2011, so we are probably due a cold winter next. I have been stocking up on the abundance of fallen trees ready for the wood burner next winter.

I guess they got Easter completely wrong this year, this weekend is shaping up much better.

I'm in London now...Marble Arch area. I saw some damage on the way in from the aerodrome. Was this from last week?.....guess we're only about 90 miles northeast of Portsmouth.

WX is nice today...mostly sunny temp 10C, little bit of breeze.
