Kinda reminds me of an overloaded ferry I was on in Cambodia.

The ferry I was on had Six pallets of Cement Bags sitting at the bow of all places. The holds were full of blocks of Ice for remote islands. Passengers and passenger luggage (including chickens etc) were loaded up all over the deck.

The first thing I do when getting on boats in developing countries is look for the life jackets and take note of anything that is going to float. I also take notice of electrical items that may go Zap if the boat goes over.

Interesting thing. Watching the video, what would have been better. To don a life jacket first as many did, or grab a life jacket and jump over board and put it on once clear of the boat?

My goodness... That was terrible... It's one thing for a sailor to be tossed in the drink, but tourists including elders and children.... Yikes...

I was thinking the same thing. How many would be trapped under the boat by their life jackets? Maybe grab one on the arm that can be ditched easily?

I agree with you and Tellie... It really highlights how unprepared most tourists are to handle a tour boat capsize.
How fast it can happen and how quickly panic sets in, freezing people in their seats.

I saw one guy running by alert and carrying his lifejacket as you suggest.

The guy recording, obviously had his wits about him, but I question his priorities.

No one seemed to take command to get those frozen in their seats to a better exit point from the canopy.

Perhaps, those in shock fully wearing lifejackets is the better choice in this situation as the extra floatation would help them to pop out from under the canopy, if not entangled in some ceiling netting that they often use to store those very lifejackets.

Just imagine a cruise ship!!
