There are pictures on the thread but here are a few. Have not really gotten into the wood yet, were having it blasted to get off the thick coats of varnish from her previous life.

A couple shots of the new hatch and port lights. Other than that, redoing the floorboard and cutting in a new one, removing junk electrical wiring, chipping paint off we haven't done all that much yet.

I know a guy who has a huge workshop with a Tayana 37 inside it and a CT 41 outside, along with an old MG and one of the first Corvettes all in various stages of restoration, and all the tools you could ever imagine...he used to work in the movie business building sets and models.. he built the model for Titanic... He had a Yankee 28 in good shape on a trailer that he "just wanted to get rid of" too! Boy was I tempted.. some lucky kid got it, cleaned it up and is having a blast with it now...

Hello from Estonia!
This is a first post from a long time lurker.
Finally after more than 15 years of planning and hesitations I bought my own boat, a plastic classic Shipman 28 from -76 (actually a 29 footer weighing 2.8 tons).
Bought her from Sweden last fall and sailed double-handed over the Baltic Sea to Estonia. Baltic Sea in September can be dangerous but we were lucky and got lots of sun and fair winds.

The survey came back very favorable, so the Wife and I brought her home from Connecticut to the Chesapeake last October and I can't wait to spend the summer on her.

Not sure why some of the pics keep coming out sideways....they are not that way in my photo library....

She's beautiful .. more pictures are always welcome!!

Not sure why they did though. Maybe just showing their British background.

Welcome aboard Mait! That's a great little video. Looks like a beautiful area to cruise. And a great looking little boat, great design, and she looks like she is in fantastic shape for a 40 year old boat! That's the first time I have seen nylon webbing rolled up in a reel for the stern rode, but I don't get out much. I like it. I'd really enjoy seeing more movies of cruising around Estonia too. Keep us posted!

Thanks Don, she is very well maintained indeed and I'll keep upgrading her. I was going to buy an Albin Vega because of their good reputation. At the end I feel lucky that the chosen Vega was sold before I reached the seller and I found this slightly bigger boat for reasonable price. I consider it is as seaworthy as Vega for my needs but the classic shape of Shipman is much more pleasing to an eye.
The stern anchor rode on reel, made of webbing, is common Sweden and Finland. They usually anchor from the stern and and step on the shore from the bow. The rocky coasts are steep and depth increases quickly in this area. Many of their boats even don't have a bow anchor at all. I plan to add one with a bow roller setup, here in Estonia a bow anchor makes more sense.

Welcome aboard JollyR! If you look up to the top here there is a bar with drop down menus. One is called "Community" and there you'll find "Social Groups" which has many, and they are not as active as they could be! But in there is one called "Plastic Classics" but here is a shortcut:
