Post a video of it hitting the water! Really happy for you. btw How do the turnbuckles look now? Any better after adjustment? btw it looks like there may be a bit of rake in the mast. Is it the right amount? If you ease off the backstay and tighten up the headstay and forward lowers that would help your aft lower situation, but you should get the rake right. I don't know what the rake is for your boat, offhand

they look much better. I don't see any issues with the launch or sea trial.

Don, attached a few more pics of my launch date(May 7th) and after deck and cockpit paint. Work done so far is topside paint(Total Boat Hatteras off white-perfect match with original gelcoat), sheer stripe paint(Rustoleum topside Navy) , new standing rigging, deck paint(Pettit Easypoxy Grand Banks Beige) with non skid mixed in, halyards lead to cockpit, bottom paint(Pettit Hydrocoat ECO). Not pictured, I sanded sliding hatch(teak)and will coat with Cetol Sikkens, have Alado roller furler coming this week, new 135 genoa jib being modified for #6 luff tape. This is an excellent boat deserving of her reputation as built for the North Sea. Only sailed it to home port on a two day 50 mile sail with no wind first day and downwind run the second day. Been out one other day with only 8-10 knots and some minor gusts with an old blown out working jib but this was enough to convince me of the good sailing qualities of this boat. Can't wait to get the new 135 jib on with the furler. More work to do on the Cirrus but also have a 1980 Catalina 27 I need to update and get on the market.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

I have to put in a plug for Ballenger Spars in Watsonville, CA. I emailed them today because I could not find sheaves that matched the size I had in my 50 year-old mast. The owner of the company, Buzz, emailed me back today, Sunday of a holiday weekend to say they did carry that size and to call back Tuesday. I was impressed.

If I had the $ I'd have these guys build me a new mast and boom.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Dreams do come true, with a lot of work that is. Boat splashed Friday no major problems. put the sails on and headed out for a sail. The boat sails great, better than I expected. Light winds were great for my gal as it was her first time sailing. And she had a good laugh as I fell over the side trying to lash the Jib to the forestay. I quickly pulled myself back over the side. Not an easy feat for a 56 year old out of shape sailor. In any case we had a good laugh and learned quite a bit that day. went out again yesterday but the extreme heat and lack of wind or shade had us retreating mid afternoon. All in all a great weekend. Looking forward to many more adventures.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Congratulations just doesn't seem like a big enough word. And I think it is especially great that both you and your boat have been (re-)baptized!

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Finally ended up with a boat I had been chasing after, after some survey disappointments with others (Seafarer, Hunter Cherubini's, etc), an Endeavour 32, with some nice extras already fitted, like stainless steel ports, and top quality recent hoses on everything. Also came with 3 unused light wind sails (Hood multi purpose spinnaker, Gennaker, and 150% Genoa), plus almost unused Doyle Stackpack main and 110%.

Good thick barrier coat on it too.

Getting it serviced up and antifouled now, and aiming to splash by 20th June.

Don, if you missed the link in the thread on monoculars, this is the one I ended up with, and I'm very pleased with it:

Fair winds all.
