Willow - while there is no 'immunity' we hope that every member has the same experience on the forum. If you have a specific issue with a post click on the red triangle next to the post to seek moderator assistance. That said, 3 members of the site team are women and we are mindful of the issue that you bring up.

We hope that CF is a friendly forum and have worked hard to that end but as pointed out - it may not be to everyones taste. Still, everyone is welcome. Hopefully you can get some good reading done here during your ACL rehab. Painful bit of rehab, that. If you can master the rehab, navigating CF's various personalities should be childs play by comparison. Just remember - it's the internet and just as in a bar, those with the most bluster turn heads but are often avoided as the evening progresses. You'll do fine - welcome to the rabble.

Dunno what drugs she is taking, but it seems to me that there are a lot of apologists around. There is an american term for it. There are men as well as women who show some hurt by cynicism etc. And for that matter there are some who get impatient with questions that could be answered by some elementary research but the surprising thing is how patient many are with them. Of course that might be because they are men. The questioners or answerers I leave up to you. Getta grip.

Most people are really nice around here and then there are a small number can be sexist asses at times. You just have to wear your ass filter and learn to ignore them. This is not particular to this forum, it occurs world wide.

Us moderators do our best to enforce the Be Nice Rule but one persons definition of being nice or humorous can be another persons definition of being rude or sexist. There is an ignore feature for those whose writings you would rather not have to read. You are most welcome to use this feature.

FWIW, I do get my bottom smacked by the Mods now and again ......not so much in recent years, but a bit of a learning curve along the way - for everyone ............but humour often directed at self as much as anyone else. I also try and keep the quips etc off the more factual threads. And I do try and help folks as well, even if sometimes little more than offering encouragement or teasing out additional info for an OP / other folks to chew over......and I do tend to avoid those that clearly don't want to "play" - when I remember who they are!

Having said that, have never been afraid to say the unsayable, and I am aware that does not always go down well with some (internet and real life ) - sometimes calling a spade a spade is useful. and sometimes important - and occassionally it needs to be called robustly, although I do try to include a tad of humour to sugarcoat the message.

But I will concede that my humour does not always hit the target in the manner intended and accept that not appreciated by everyone - spending time on more "robust" forums means that sometimes the personna swap to CF (and being nice ) is not always seamless (see earlier link ), plus of course with an international audience not possible to please everyone - so sometimes I don't bother trying to do that .

If anyone does get "offended" by any of my comments, have a chat to the Mods (PM or via the Red Triangle) - or even send me a PM, I don't take things on the internet personally - and this being CF (Play nice) I won't offer to cut off your head and defecate down your neck (see earlier link ) over minor issues. or as a welcome .

Anyway, that's my final $5 and 27 cents on this thread .

Gender is not a negative issue unless you make it.
Here on the internet you can have any gender/boat/experiance you like.
But if you talk the talk you have to stand up for yourself.
If you ask questions you get answers some good some bad.

Their are three trouble topics.
Guns (america's vs the rest of world)
Anchors(Rocna/manson vs everything else)
Hulls( mostly mono vs multy).
Use these and await incoming
otherwise enjoy CF honestly

Never seen any sexism on here Willow, not more than a couple of times anyway. Could be worse, you could have posted on a forum where love of sailing is less important than who's at the helm. Post on, ask all the questions you want, give your opinion on others' questions, and enjoy the banter.
