Don: Congratulations on dodging that bullet. Someone earlier said you needed to get well as your comments are so enjoyed on this site and they are right. I am a complete newbie and feel like I know you, just from reading.

My cousin (age 61) just dropped dead on the golf course three weeks ago. He had just had a complete physical two months earlier and everything was great, no high cholesterol, no high blood pressure, no heart history in the family. He had played college basketball and continued to play and golf, went to the gym three or four times a week. Makes you realize that time is precious.
Glad this all turned out well.

Get that Hunter out there and sail it hard. Ride it down the trades. I want to hear stories about 100% hull speed for days on end, tropical islands, hitting your bucket list hard whatever it is. Life is too short.

And, if the healthy cruising lifestyle doesn't cure you, please remember that it is always better to die at sea than in a hospital.

I made it clear to my old man that there will be no funeral because I expect no body. He has been told to just die at sea and we will remember him later. Go out with glory and a capsize in the southern ocean without an EPIRB. Never in a hospital bed....

I do exactly that. Except I have a few reefs in and as Star Trek said: "To Gently Go"... And I do so with glass in hand.

It's a healthy lifestyle and one doesn't need to bust a gut doing it

Don, glad to hear you are better, and thanks for the cautionary tale.

A little disappointed in your doctor, evidently not a CF reader. We all know that for clogged hoses you run vinegar through them, and, if that doesn't work, take them out, beat them against the dock, and re-install them. Oh wait, that's waste hoses... For fuel hoses you need a polishing system to remove all the build-up in the tank and lines? And a magnet to keep all the particles aligned?

Sailing is a great prescription, but you may need to stay away from "what is the best blue water cruiser" threads for a while.

They haven't manufactured CRAFTSMAN stents yet; guaranteed replacement for life. In the meantime, modify your diet so as it includes more fruits and veggies. Walking and swimming should be added to your daily exercise routine. Easy on the sailing for a while, until you get in a better shape. Get immediate medical attention, if you feel pain while exercising. Good luck! Mauritz
