Re: Don Lucas in Hospital - a little Get Well

Well, well, well! Thanks for all the well wishes!

I truly can not seem able to keep track of the all the nurses! This hospital doesn't seem to have any old ones .

It does seem a little dangerous to have young, cute nurses shaving private areas and giving sponge baths to old guys with heart problems. But if you have to go .................

On a serious note: I'm looking at this as a positive event. Turns out I had what the doctor described as 99% blockage in my heart. While I of course had an attack it was small and forced me into the hospital and later a stress test (that they stopped and went into a panic in 4 minutes). So I had a stent put in and feel good and expect to get out tomorrow.

The Doctor said something about needing to sail more as part of my long term heart health.

Again thanks for the well wishes!

Re: Don Lucas in Hospital - a little Get Well

Glad to hear you are feeling better Don.

Of course I much prefer those male nurses, especially the young ones with the cute butts and muscular arms myself. Perhaps your heart might be better off with one of them doing the shaving and sponging...

On a serious note...a lifestyle change should be in order! I'm sure you have heard that a gizzillion time before. Diet restrictions, weight loss and moderate exercises are to be followed. Now, if you can just find yourself a mermaid...

With a nice greasy cheeseburger. with 3 slices of cheese, bacon, a fried egg, bacon, mayo, avocado, and bacon!

They gave me pictures from my procedure of my heart when it was clogged and and later with it unclogged.

In the clogged photo the artery looks like celery and cottage cheese, but in the unclogged one it looks like said cheeseburger!

Get well man!

And think about getting rid of the Hunter. I hear they cause heart problems.

Glad you had a quick fix by the cardiac roto rooter. You're on the North Shore. Maybe you can celebrate with a Maple Bacon doughnut at Brothers' Brew in Rockport. Yummmmm!

Re: Don Lucas in Hospital - a little Get Well

Hey, didn't know you were doing the hospital thing. No wonder I haven't been getting any abusive messages lately. Glad to hear you're out. Bet the nurses (and doctors and aides and all the rest of the staff) are glad as well.

Just a few weeks away from sailing and you check in for heart surgery? Man you need to move to FL so you can stay active year round. Keeps you healthy and out of trouble. Besides, I could use some help cleaning the bilges before I launch (soon).

Good thing you have a boring Hunter to sail. A Pearson might be more than your system could stand.

Re: Don Lucas in Hospital - a little Get Well

I'm in my 50's. Have been bike riding and exercising for years, so I'm sure my arteries are fine. I did, however, crash my bike in Oct. and spent a couple of days in ICU...still recovering but am back to work. Pick your poison.

So Don, when they tell you that you need to exercise, you can say "I know this guy...damn near killed himself exercising..."

Get well soon. Hope we're both back in good shape for the sailing season!

Scott

Re: Don Lucas in Hospital - a little Get Well

The most important thing is get the hell out of the hospital. More people die in hospitals than any 3 other places you can name.
