depth sounder

Has anyone had any experience in using a fishfinder with a read thru the hull transducer? How was it attached?

There are a number of options.
Bond the sensor to the hull using silicone caulk.
Glass a small cofferdam to the inside of the hull then install the sensor in the cofferdam immersed in mineral oil.
Trick is finding a good location to begin with the has no voids in the laminate and good transmission. I’ve heard about smearing Vaseline on test locations or using a ziploc baggy full of water.

I have an Airmar P79 transducer. It comes in a housing designed for in-hull mounting (see the attached brochure) and can compensate for some amount of deadrise. It works fine in my boat, at least up to about 200 ft. It won't work in a cored hull unless you remove the core under the transducer.
