Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA
I'm considering doing a denaming ceremony of my vessel that's had it's name scrapped off for more then 10 months now. I have been bust'n my butt trying to get all the final stuff done to it for a TransPac to P.I., which included a hull/deck joint seal and cap, a radar arch w/overhead main traveller and a fresh paint job (yellow) that warrants a new name. I've had two other yellow sailboats that served me well, so three's should be a charm!
If I can get three or more confirmed Puget Sound locals to show up to witness King Neptune's document. I'll cook up some baby back ribs and potato salad for the event at the boat @ Dagmar's in Everett.
I figure in another week or two the vessel will no longer have any remnants of it's old color (flag blue) left. So, I'm think Aug. 7th for the event.
Any takers?

I think, the weather is starting to clear now so trying to catch anyone staying ashore might be hard.

Will you hang the cirtificate or just read from it at the ceremony? Have you decided on a new name?

I'll keep the cert with the old TRIX log book.
The new name will be "Ugly Duckling. And this will be her insignia.

Very nice. Best of luck in the renaming. Wish I could be there for the renaming.

Beautiful. It's got a west coast meets Scandinavia thing going to my eye.

Bah! I leave on the 4th, can't stay! If I make a run down to fisheries supply, where can I drop off a denaming gift?

I'll be back from the islands by then. And for any of you headed to fisheries, if you don't have a commercial account there, I do and would be happy to make purchases for any cf members on it. We get a substantial discount on most items...

Thanks, but not necessary. Just having the boat back together is prize enough. Got some paint on yesterday but here it is raining again.
BTW I'm not superstitious, I just like to follow traditions related to the sea. After all I am a Certified Shellback (twice) and Nuptune himself would require formality.

Actually, the symbol is a modification of some NW Indian art representing a swan. The original copy was very crude but I've spent hours in photoshop doing modifications and refines. I enlarged it and have had it produced in a vinyl sticker which will go on each side of the vessel up forward.

Re: Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA
So far, it's been a no-show so it's off for now. I hope to splash the boat by the end of the month. Just have the hull paint, deck paint and a few more deck fittings to install. So unless I get more response it'll be a single-handed ceremony.
