Let's see.... if you have the boat 3 years and go out on the weeekend and drink a six pack... it'll only be about $2 a beer! Hmmmm..... maybe you should have picked up a cold six pack on the way to the boat each time? :>)

i put up one 135w kyocera ($400), built my own bracket out of 1" stainless tube ($150), a simple pwm controller ($40) and some 10 guage wire ($10). total cost $600.

so how the heck did you spend $1469???

I will not claim that my install does not look like crap, but it is not in the way.

Panel is secured with 1/4 Amsteel (no stretching) and is allowed to be moved port or starboard to evade boom shadow.

Wires extend and retract from under panel with hidden bungees that take up the slack.

Feet are made of starboard (slippery).

Two points for you beginners

One can turn the fridge off on Sunday night then back on later. The beers might be cold when the hour comes around. Saves energy. However....

...why are there beers remaining dining the week?. That is shameful, amatuer, if not outright alcohol abuse.

Cold beer is nice but there is nothing like having a bowl of ice cream in a remote anchorage.

Don, I'm convinced that in the Maine summer my solar panels provide many more amps than a wind generator. Even with the fog. It might be a different story down on the Cape with a kicking sea breeze.

The beer I buy is about $8 a gallon.
Pretty amazing figuring the cost of gasoline at half that. The gas starts with crude oil pulled from the ground, loaded and shipped by tanker around the world, unloaded and refined, shipped to a service station by truck and sold there .
The beer is made locally, and is mostly barley hops and water. simply put in a tank and babysat. Ever think about what a ripoff it really is?

If you have a sailboat, what do you need gas for?

On the other hand, beer is a necessity for most sailors.

Never thought about the oil in that way but that is crazy,so much more effort to produce it and it cost less than sugar water! Looked at the price of beef jerky today ,it cost $35.00 lb!! Supply and demand huh?..
