Cabin Heater Problem

Does anyone have a Taylor or Dickenson Cabin Heater aboard with a diesel gravity flow drip? I am unable to clear my drip line though I've run a wire up to the shut off valve. I've put fresh diesel in with stabilizer, but I can't get the line cleared. Any suggestions?

Re: Cabin Heater Problem

Your fuel line is probably plugged with carbon. You'll have to take the line off and replace it if you cant unplug it. Try compressed air if you can but watch out for the mess!
I would suggest that you do away with the drip valve and buy yourself a carburator - it's much safer and you should also install a thermostatic fuel shut off control valve - shuts down the stove incase it gets too hot.
If your fuel is coming from a day tank - check the vent and make sure it's clear. If the vent is plugged, you're out of business. If the fuel is pumped to the drip valve - make sure the pump is still working.
Carbon build up is the most common problem.
Have fun!

Re: Cabin Heater Problem

Thanks Gord,
But I do not have a Dickinson. My heater is a Taylor and its manual has an old fashioned one page manual not covering my problem.

Re: Cabin Heater Problem

Thanks again, Gord.
I've checked the FAQs, and there's good info there. I'll check my filter in the tank. Looks like that might be the culprit.
